Judged Contest and Exhibit

Mission Statement

1) To inspire and foster excellence and creativity.

2) To stimulate a broader appreciation of the fiber arts by the public


Display time:  Saturday  11:00AM-until 3PM

Exhibit only: Work that is not judged will be exhibited as space allows.

Contest: Work must be done by you. Contest is open to all participants.  Items must be clean and not previously shown. You will be asked to fill out an entry form.  Identifying labels will be placed on each item. The entrant’s information will be hidden during judging.  You can enter more than one category, but only one item per category.  Items will be handled with care; however Trout Lake Fair is not responsible for items damaged while on display at the Fair.

Judging: Items will be judged on 1) overall appearance, 2) craftsmanship and technique, 3) creativity and innovation and 4) written description. Judging will be done by two well respected knowledgeable judges from the community.

Standard judging criteria for Threads and Yarns Fiber Arts items will be used.  Judges will be using a Point system for placement. The score card with results will be available to you when you pick up your item.

Youth:  There will be two divisions. Age as of August 2, 2019.

1) Age 12 and under.  2)   Ages 13 through 17

Youth Categories –

  • Quilting
  • Crochet and Knitting
  • All Cross Stitch and Embroidery
  • Sewing
  • Hand-woven
  • Felting (includes wool felt or felted wool)

Ribbons awarded: 1st Blue Ribbon, 2nd Red Ribbon, 3rd White Ribbon

Best Overall Craftsmanship Age 12 and under-Purple Rosette

Best Overall Craftsmanship Ages 13 through 17-Purple Rosette

Adult: There will be one division.

Adult Categories- 18 and older

  • Quilting
  • Crochet and Knitting
  • All Cross Stitch and Embroidery
  • Sewing
  • Handwoven
  • Felting (includes wool felt or felted wool)

Ribbons and points awarded:  1st Blue ribbon 15 points, 2nd Red ribbon 10 points, 3rd White ribbon 5 points.

Highest number of points will receive Grand Prize and Purple Rosette.

How to Enter: Drop off items Friday July 30, 2021. 2:00-4:00PM Camp Jonah.   Contest items will not be accepted after 4:00PM.  *Download and complete Entry Form prior to dropping off  items.  Entry forms will also be available at drop-off.  All items must have Entry Form, even items for exhibit only. Judging will be Saturday morning @ 8AM and is not open to the public.

Pick up items: Saturday no earlier than 3:00PM @ Camp Jonah Gym.

Unclaimed items may be auctioned in 2022.
